    NWCGE2K6 Vancouver Wrap Up - A Shaq-Fun for Everyone

It's a wrap. NWCGE2K6 Vancouver and all its yummy bargains have been boxed up and hauled away. If you couldn't make the drive, you should be kicking yourself (or your gass guzzling Hummer). And what did you miss? Lots of great games at garage-sale bargain prices and some fun gaming competitions - highlighted by the Nintendo and SMB Championships. PG crew represented well for Seattle, taking 1st in the SMB competition; 2nd, 3rd and 4th in Golden Eye 64; and 1st in the non-sanctioned, unofficial, fairly irrelevant but highly acrimonious inter-vendor DS Showdown.

Big Thanks to NWCGE for hosting another fun event.

Games in bins. Games on the floor. Games on a plane. Games everywhere. Look, a Vectrex!

    Vendors galore. Where's Pink Gorilla?

Big D was surely stackin big paper with all the sweet Dreamcast and Saturn shooters he had for sale.

Not sold in stores. A pimped-out NES. Very cool.

After a thorough trouncing in Mario Kart and Tetris by Pink Gorilla, the Guardian Gamer crew shake their collective fist of vengeance. We'll get you next time Pink Gorilla! Next Time...

The kick-off of the final round of the Nintendo Championships: The final round was played on an authentic 1990 World Nintendo Championships cart. Each player gets six and a half minutes to score as many points as possible in SMB, Rad Racer, and Tetris.

Nintendo Championships: Round 1 Super Mario Bros. Ends when 50 coins are collected.

Nintendo Championships: Round 2 Rad Racer. Don't forget to use your Turbos!

Nintendo Championships: Round 3 Tetris. Game stops when time expires.

Nintendo Championships: And points from each round are tallied.

Nintendo Championships: Winners Pose with victory spoils. Overall Champion - DS Lite, 2nd - NEX and wireless controllers, 3rd - GBA SP, SMB High Score Champion - 1up Beani. To those not pictured, ie not worthy of champion status, remember: Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. Ya heard me? The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character.... Ya heard me?

Brandon bought every copy of Shaq Fu at the show. Total value? Game Gear Shaq-Fu $2. Inbox Genesis Shaq Fu $5. Loose Genesis Shaq Fu $2.

The thrill of a such a ShaqFu-allicious haul (to Brandon and possibly 4 other people in the world)? Priceless.

    Hey, I bought that Vectrex!

Didn't find out about your store until I returned to the Great White North - too bad, because I essentially drove by it in Seattle. Will visit the next time I'm in town!
