After almost a staggering 7 hours, the tourney came to a close and the winner walked off with $14 in cash, a Pinky G plushie, a PG poster and a $25 Pink Gorilla Gift Certificate as well as knowing that all the practice had paid off. Hit the jump for a recap with pics and video from the event!

The event featured WiiWare demo kiosks with multiplayer battles and single player demos throughout the day. With two 40’’ TV’s running the WiiWare version of Frobot and up to 4 players on each system for multiplayer mayhem, the store was hopping with gamers trying out the game. With practice rounds before each prize round, players got a feel for the game and even got tips from Fugazo CEO Andrew Lum about how to use each weapon.

There was lots of swag given out including super cool Pinky G plushies, a Pink Gorilla poster or even a rad Frobot t-shirt! The Frobot dev team was on hand and got lots of feedback on the game and was all too happy to show off their latest build of the game.

For many years, we've all dreamed of being a badass metal version of Shaft, wielding slick futuristic weapons and saving our many many robotic girlfriends from criminals. Thanks to Fugazo and Frobot, we can finally live that dream.

This Sunday at 2:00, at PG's U-District store, the Frobot team will be on hand to show off their new creation. Come on down to play some games, win some prizes, and help support local game developers!

Play as Frobot and rescue your 5 robot girlfriends who have been mysteriously captured! Fight robots with a wide assortment of weapons such as ricocheting energy blasts, missiles, and mines. Solve physics puzzles using cranes, switches, teleporters, and boxes to rescue your girlfriends from certain doom!

The Story Mode features 25 Levels spread across multiple environments such as Frobot's Disco and the Microshaft Lab. In Battle Mode up to 4 people can play in this breakdown battle royale! Choose from an assortment of weapons such as energy blasts, missiles, and mines. Then pick from over 10 stages with different obstacles such as destructible walls, moving platforms, and teleporters!

In the latest digital issue Elder Goban reviews Irozuki Tingle no Koi no Balloon Trip for the DS, Elder Kozo contributed
a feature, Japan's Doujin Soft Keep 2D Games Alive, two soundtrack reviews; Katamari Damacy Tribute Soundtrack and the Afrika Soundtrack, and a review of Dux, a Dreamcast homebrew game.

The night began as the PG crew made its way to the Nectar Lounge in Fremont, hauling the plastic instruments just as they did in years past for Pinkapalooza 1 and 2. This year brought out all new musical acts along with old favorite Rock Band 2 and after a few mic problems were fixed the night went off with out a hitch.

After the dust settled, the bar closed and the last few straglers stumbled out, the tally was in; over $1000 was raised for Penny Arcade's Child's Play Charity making the night a sucess. Thanks to all those who came out! Hit the jump for a full recap with pics from the nights events!

Seattle, December 12, 2009 – Been playing Rock Band at home, but have yet to experience the roar of the crowd, the throngs of fans, the ear-splitting cacophony of a live show that you can’t get from the three buddies on your couch? Pink Gorilla LLC is proud to present PINKAPALOOZA 3, a night of on-stage Rock Band insanity, with special guest appearances by Seattle’s own 8-bit music talent Kids Get Hit by Buses (http://www.crunchyco.com/music/kidsgethitbybuses.html) local Nerdcore artist Beefy (http://www.beefyness.com/) and powerpop band Robotronica (http://www.myspace.com/robotronicaband) to benefit Penny Arcade’s Child’s Play charity.

Get your band mates (or come solo) and head to Nectar Lounge in Seattle (www.nectarlounge.com) to rock the socks off on a live stage with an insane sound system, ten foot projector screen, and hordes of onlookers cheering you on. All will be welcome to play, but the night will close with the best of the best facing off for a chance to win some great game swag. Better than another night on the couch for sure!

Nectar on December 12th – doors open at 8 PM (21 and over only please). Nectar is located at 412 N 36th Street in Seattle – a suggested $10 donation gets you in the door. Devil World for the Famicom (NES in the US) is the only game designed by Shigeru Miyamoto to never be released in the US. While most gamers know all of his other games, Devil World was just too controversial in the 1980’s to release in the US. Why? For starters, the gameplay revolves around a small green dragon named Tamagon attacking the Devil’s World by picking up crosses to gain the ability to breathe fire and then eat the dots in the maze. As if that wasn’t enough, after completing a maze, the stage reappears where Tamagon must collect four Bibles and place them in the center of the maze.

The overt religious icons in Devil World were strictly against Nintendo of America’s policy at the time and rightly so. Games like Custer’s Revenge caused huge controversy with women especially, which Nintendo of America wanted to avoid. In later years, games like Night Trap for the Sega CD would end up as front page news, even getting the US Senate involved in an effort to ban the game.

In the US, eBay has seen 3 copies of the NES World Championship Cart, the Gold version of which sold for $17,500! Then throw in that Stadium Events for the NES still sold for a respectable $4,260 and you've got a firesale on retro video games going on! While the self proclaimed 'rarest game ever' PowerFest 1994 never sold after being posted twice with an asking price of $50,000, maybe the recently completed auction of a Nintendo Campus Challenge 1991 cart will see the PowerFest 1994 cart return for a third time at a lower price.

The Nintendo Campus Challenge cart is probably just as rare as PowerFest 1994 as one of each has only ever been found. The Campus Challenge cart was found in 2006 and finally made its way to ebay eariler this year. The cart was part of a contest that Nintendo held in 1991 at college campuses across the US and sold for the staggering price of $20,100!
